Juliette Lewis has announced a couple of little UK shows in July in the lead up to her full winter tour. No longer with ‘The Licks’, Juliette has formed a new backing band called The New Romantiques to compliment what she says is a new direction for her musically.

Produced with Omar Rodriguez-Lopez of Mars Volta fame, Terra Incognita is will be out this autumn. The press release says that Juliette and Omar have worked together in creating an album of romance and tragedy, dreams and disillusionment.

“My next album will be so sonically different than anything I’ve done before and captures many flavors of my emotional life and voice. Do I have fear? Of course but it is exactly what gets me going. Because I L O V E what I’m doing,” she said. And we believe her.

Here are the dates:

13th July – Morecambe Library (all ages)
14th July – London Lexington (18+)

21st October – Glasgow Garage
22nd October – Manchester Academy 2
23rd October – London Shepherd’s Bush Empire
24th October – Bristol Lazarette Festival @ Anson Rooms

The upcoming movie “Sympathy for Delicious” was postponed since Mark Ruffalo‘s brother was murdered last year. The movie, originally expected to begin shooting last month, was indefinitely postponed after word of Scott Ruffalo’s death broke.

Now we have some news. A production insider has told to E! News that shooting will start in a week.

The cast convened for a get-together last Friday, with Bloom, Lewis, Ruffalo and his wife, Sunrise Coigney, joining forces for a low-key night out at Teddy’s at the Roosevelt Hotel. A source told E! News the foursome “sat in the back, corner table behind the DJ booth, just drinking soda water and having a good night.”

Actress Juliette Lewis is set to join Chris Thornton, Mark Ruffalo and James Franco in Ruffalo’s directorial debut “Sympathy for Delicious.”

Ruffalo recently broke the news to MTV News, but he did not specify what role Lewis would be playing in the dramedy written by Thornton. The story of “Delicious” takes place in Los Angeles and focuses on a paralyzed disc jockey who mysteriously becomes a faith healer. Ruffalo plays a Jesuit priest who helps him explore his new gift and accept its limitations. Franco jumps into the role of a rock singer.

Lewis was last seen in “Catch and Release.” She recently wrapped filming for Drew Barrymore’s directorial debut “Whip It!”

This, despite becoming a movie star with her Oscar-nominated “Cape Fear” performance in 1991.

Lewis’ edgy, offbeat charisma bounded off the big screen in hits such as “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape,” “Natural Born Killers,” “From Dusk Till Dawn” and “Old School.” She even dated Brad Pitt.

Still, Lewis is not what you would call a Hollywood starlet, and that is a blessing.

Paparazzi? No problem.

“I’m not really their cup of tea,” Lewis, 35, says from her cell phone as she strolls on Broadway near Spring Street in Manhattan. “I don’t get in those magazines with questions about what kind of lip gloss I wear.”

That outsider status makes for good rebel rock music.

I found out I won’t be moving just yet so updates will resume as usual. Here is some news on Juliette’s new movie Whip it!.

A new comedy film about female roller derby is skating its way to Birch Run Township Monday.

Crew members from the Drew Barrymore-directed movie “Whip It!” have began production at the former Ken’s Diner on M-83 just north of Birch Run Road.

The movie, which stars Barrymore, Ellen Page of “Juno” and Juliette Lewis, began filming in Texas and Southeast Michigan in late July. Page will play an ex-beauty pageant contestant in a small Texas town who sneaks off to skate in the Austin roller derby league.

Hollywood crews transformed the Mid-Michigan former diner into a fictional BBQ restaurant called the Oink Joint. “Whip It!” location managers told TV5 they will be closing M-83 down off and on during shooting.
